Back in the mid 1970’s i purchased my first of many electronic music synthesizers (Roland SH3a, System 100, System 100m)…

Most of my experimentation involved my curiosity of how different tones and frequencies affected the brain. The method I had stumbled upon utilized detuning multiple Voltage Controlled Oscillators that were at the core of analog synthesizers of that era. Little did I know at that time there was a field of study called Brainwave Entrainment (BWE) using audio to stimulate the brain into various brainwave states utilizing the beats. And it wasn’t until I stumbled upon a simple software program in 2005 that I realized others were doing what I’d been experimenting with!
Fast forwarding to 2009, I purchased a then-new program called Mind Work Station by a company called T R A N S P A R E N T Corporation (as of 2018 they have discontinued support for this software, and since you must register any new install?? the software is DOA at this point so most in the community have switched over to Shram Studio I mention below.) The files I share here were created with MWS and are free for personal use, here is a screen shot of one session in MWS editor.

Fast forward again to 2020 and now that MWS is no longer supported by the parent corporation and I have switched over to Sharm Studio 7. I find the UI functional and the workflow efficient. I am currently importing the Sharm entrainment audio file into BitWig Studio for further editing and creating soundscapes within BitWig.
Also, please remember to NEVER use BWE audio files while driving or operating equipment! An overview of the making below… I will be adding more free audio files on a near weekly basis which get listed on this site’s front page. Also, be sure to check out my other “Pinned” art over at my Pinterest Page!
Search this site for “Brainwave Entrainment” files and enjoy 🙂
